Antioch High Court upheld the action conducted by the Attorney General's Office against former mayor of Caramanta (Antioquia)

The Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court Judicial District of Antioch confirmed the legality of the process verbal advance by the Attorney General's Office against Juan Guillermo Valencia Alvarez, in his capacity as former mayor of Caramanta (Antioquia), considering that there are other mechanisms defense to claim their rights and that it is not irreversible harm.

The application for protection was filed by the attorney of Mr. Valencia Alvarez before the Circuit Criminal Court Fredonia (Antioquia), considering that the procedure by which the Provincial Office of Fredonia uttered the court ruling violated the due process rights and the defense of his principal. Firstly, this writ was decided in favor of the plaintiffs.

However, after hearing the arguments of the Provincial Prosecutor of Fredonia, Superior Court Judicial District of Antioquia revoked in its entirety the challenged decision and denied the defense relied on the ground that the prosecution pointed out that despite having been duly notified , neither the mayor nor his attorney attended the public hearing for failure to read the sanction.
