Attorney General's Office Regional Commission participates in the department of Atlántico Moralization

The Attorney General's Office, through the Atlantic Regional, called the Regional Commission for the moralization of this department under the Presidential Program for Modernization, Efficiency, Transparency and Combating Corruption of the Presidency of the Republic, setting in also involving the Attorney General's Office and the Comptroller General of the Republic.

Response to a question previously raised to the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic on the participation of the Comptroller and provincial prosecutors Regional Commission since these organizations are autonomous and independent in making their decisions, it was learned the response from the said Secretariat, in the sense that it is feasible and should be active participation by these firms since they control subjects than those of the regional prosecutors' offices and departmental managers of the Comptroller, also stressed the importance of coordinated work that can be developed through regional committees moralizing.

The regional commissions for the moralization have been amended by Act 1474 of 2011 (New Anti-Corruption Statute), which also introducing measures and reforms to criminal proceedings, prosecutors, disciplinary state contracting and seeks joint actions and mechanisms the fight against corruption.

Among others, took part in the recent session of the Regional Commission for the department Moralization Atlantic Regional Solicitor Lucia Sarmiento Margarita Barragan, the provincial prosecutor of Barranquilla, Petrona Amparo Villanueva Olivieri, the Director of Public Prosecutions branch of Barranquilla, Cesar Emilio Suarez Garcia, who presides, the departmental manager of the Comptroller, Graciela April Rocío Caballero, and the Provincial Comptroller Barranquilla, Jorge Enrique Osorio Mastrodoménico.
 
The next meeting will be held in the city of Barranquilla on Monday 27 February, when it will consolidate the registration of citizen oversight of the region to be subsequently called to participate in the design and implementation of strategies to combat corruption define the Regional Commission for the Atlantic Moralization department.
