Attorney General's Office Superior Monitoring Report submitted to the Family Commissions

The Attorney General's Office, as part of the commemoration of International Women's Day, will present the Senior Monitoring Report to the Family Commissions in the country, on Tuesday March 6 from 8:30 am at the Auditorium Antonio Nariño.

The event will be chaired by the general national viceprocuradora, Martha Isabel Castañeda Curvelo and the Attorney's Office for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, Youth and Family Ilva Hoyos Myriam Castaneda.

The family stations represent the first door of access to justice for thousands of women around the country when they are victims of violence within the family. For this reason, from the "Monitoring Superior to guarantee the rights from a gender perspective with emphasis on women and adolescents," the Attorney General's Office prioritized the analysis of the actual situation of the family stations, taking into account role of fundamental entity in the path of attention to gender-based violence, and based on this first part, its structure, organization and operation.

Gender-based violence affects the exercise of human rights and constitutes an unequivocal indicator of inequality, so the Attorney General's Office as Body Control with preventive function, focuses its work in monitoring the fulfillment of "differentiated services" , which according to international treaties and standards such as Human Rights Act 1257 of 2008, is awarded to women, care should take into account a rights perspective and a differential approach and gender.

The first part of the results of the Higher Monitoring the Family Commissions will be released through the sixth edition of the journal "Seeking Equity," which refers to the First National Map of the Family Commissions, the quality care in dignity which these institutions are called upon to provide and recommendations to the Colombian State regarding the development of object stations missionary family.

With the introduction of the Higher Monitoring Report will open a space for analysis, discussion and debate regarding the fulfillment of the mission of the Family Commissions, which coincides with the recent allocation to the Ministry of Justice and the Law mandate of providing technical guidelines for the care of gender-based violence, where the report of the Office constitutes an important input.
