Attorney General's Office confirmed to recall former mayor of Sucre (Santander)

The Attorney General's Office confirmed the sanction of removal and general disqualification for a period of eleven years Mr. Eduin Alexis Vargas Rojas, in his capacity as mayor of Sucre, Santander, at the time of the facts proven to be incurred in falsifying a public document.

The former mayor was investigated to approve and sign the discharge voucher dated June 15, 2007, amounting to 4 million 277 thousand 845 dollars ($ 4,277,845), in respect of an alleged execution of supply of materials for termination of aqueduct of the village of Loma de la Candela.

The prosecution showed that the contractor did not receive the resources reported on the voucher and your signature does not match the embodied therein, in accordance with the provisions in the technical report raised during the investigation.

In resolving the appeal, the Regional Office Santander said the former mayor's conduct falls within the objective realization of the typical description of the crime of falsifying a public document enshrined in the Penal Code, and described the offense as very serious committed to title fraud.
