Attorney General's Office declined to enter a loss of investiture of House Representative Jaime Cervantes Varelo

The Attorney General's Office requested the State Council not to accept the claim for loss of investment that is still against the Chamber Representative Jaime Cervantes Varelo, not tested that were found fall within the grounds mentioned in paragraph one Article 183 of the Constitution.

According to the lawsuit, the congressman would have incurred loss causal endowment for violation of rules of disabilities and incompatibilities and conflicts of interest regime, the absence of declared disqualified from participating in the discussion and approval of the draft Act 1176 2007 and 1294 of 2009 on the education service.

In the opinion of the applicant, the scope of these laws favored the interests of the congressman through the recruitment of resources by the municipality of Soledad, Atlantico, to extend the coverage of education in this local authority, since it would have involved educational institutions contained in private families and relatives of the congressman.

The Attorney explained that analyzed conceptualized the record does not exist strong evidence to conclude, in degree of certainty, that there was an undue interest in the Chamber representative or management that would advance his own name or of others to receive benefits from their activity as Congressman, and therefore requested the Council of State does not grant the request endowment loss Chamber Representative Jaime Cervantes Varelo.
