Attorney General's Office is investigating 21 air traffic controllers

The Attorney General's Office opened a disciplinary investigation to 21 air traffic controllers of the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aviation for the possible irregular provision of air transportation in the country, derived apparently from the application of the operation called regulation, during discussion of the specification submitted by the Association of Air Traffic Controllers.

On instructions from the Attorney General's Office, the research was undertaken by the Second Attorney's Office for Administrative Supervision, in order to verify the occurrence of the facts, determine whether they constitute a disciplinary offense, to clarify the reasons for determining, circumstances of time, so and where they were committed, the harm to the administration and if there was responsibility of the officials questioned.

According to report by the Special Prosecutor for Labour Affairs and Social Security, from the negotiations, which began on January 16, 2012 with the mediation of the Ministry of Labor, there were delays in the provision of air transportation , with the consequent generation of congestion in the various air terminals in the country, which could be due to a possible "operation rules" by air traffic controllers.

The report cites that in some cases these delays "could be intended to affect the efficient delivery of service, resulting in undue pressure on national government representatives in the negotiating labor."

The same document states that "the irregular provision of air transportation in the country in recent days, has a number of circumstances that should be investigated that result in the following events: failures in the provision of air transport service for possible manipulation controllers, delays in flight schedules change commercial point to point routes, requiring compliance with the flight plan without apparent justification (eg, Bogota Barranquilla), and exaggerated spacing of aircraft in flight which causes overflight and landing delays. "

The Control Authority announced the decision to the Office of Internal Disciplinary Control Unit Special Administrative Civil Aviation, with the admonition to refrain from opening a disciplinary investigation by the same or suspend immediately if any and send the file open original to the Attorney General's Office.
