Attorney General's Office opened a disciplinary investigation against former mayor and manager of Aguas de Manizales

The Attorney General's Office opened a disciplinary investigation against Mr. Alvaro Andres Franco Valencia, in his capacity as manager of Aguas de Manizales, and Juan Manuel Llano, in his capacity as mayor of Manila at the time of the facts, because he allegedly failed to take measures to address the critical points of the supply plants, both the main and alternate, and avoid suspension of water supply in the city, although different authorities raised warnings to face the rainy season.

The opening of a disciplinary investigation will aim to verify the occurrence of the conduct, whether it constitutes a disciplinary offense, to clarify the reasons that determine the circumstances of time, manner and place in which it was committed, the damage caused to public administration the misconduct and the disciplinary responsibility of the investigation.

The First Deputy Attorney General for Administrative Supervision has commissioned the respective Regional Caldas of evidence, among which are determining the frequency and procedure established by the company to identify critical points in the feedback system, adduction, storage and distribution of water also should determine whether there were technical reports to state the risk in places where there were natural faults, especially if the company had allowed geotechnical studies establish the stability of the ground and the risk to the facility.
