Attorney General's Office requested specific actions to authorities in Leticia (Amazonas) to solve problems of solid waste disposal

The Attorney General's Office, through the Division for Environmental and Agricultural Affairs, asked the mayor of Leticia (Amazonas) to report what activities have been undertaken to advance work on the new landfill, and progress for the proper operation and closing the present site of solid waste disposal.

In a communication addressed by the President delegated to the local prosecutor, outlines the results of a visit practiced by the Attorney General on 16 February to the city of Leticia, where conditions were verified solid waste disposal and construction of new landfill healthcare. It expresses concern that assists the Attorney General is deficient because the operation by which currently provides the service and is described as "bleak" outlook for the works which should be the new final disposal site.

Attorney warns that these circumstances potentiate the possible occurrence of a public health crisis for the community leticiana.
