Attorney General's Office urges the National Government's intervention against problems of solid waste in Bucaramanga (Santander) and its metropolitan area

The Attorney General's Office, Alejandro Ordóñez Maldonado requested the Ministers of Housing, City and Territory, Environment and Sustainable Development and the Superintendent of Public Utilities, to urgently intervene in the provision of public service Grooming Bucaramanga.

To date there is no definitive solution to this problem, despite the preventive support and assistance has been exercised by the Attorney General for about 3 years. The March 30 marks the end of six months and environmental health emergency declared by the mayors of the metropolitan area of ​​Bucaramanga and nine municipalities currently available solid waste in an adjacent cell at the place called "El Carrasco" .

At previous meetings at the city of Bucaramanga and Bogota, one of which involved the chief prosecutors, the new local leaders pledged to seek a site for waste disposal in the form of "cell contingency" and as choosing a site for the ultimate solution for disposal of solid waste. Attorney General is concerned that to date has not advanced significantly in either purpose, and instead have taken action to lift the injunction of suspension imposed on the property called "Park Chocoa" site that has environmental license the competent environmental authority, which in the opinion of the Attorney was allegedly granted irregularly, apparently violating environmental content standards, which is why today is advanced disciplinary investigation.

Attorney Alejandro Ordóñez Maldonado asked the national government authorities to carry out intervention actions that are necessary to bring about a definitive solution to the problem of waste disposal in the metropolitan area of ​​Bucaramanga, and warned against possible failure to perform the duties and obligations of the past and the current mayor, will be advanced appropriate disciplinary investigations.
