Attorney General stressed the importance of family stations and requested guarantees for their independence

The Attorney General's Office, Alejandro Ordóñez Maldonado, urged local governments across the country to have the human, physical, economic and technical for family stations to fulfill their functions as competent authority to protect the rights human children, adolescents, women and family.

The Chief Public Prosecutor addressed the mayors, councilors and heads of offices of district and municipal planning, through Directive 002 on January 26, in which he emphasized the importance of family stations in care domestic violence, violence against women, as well as prevention and restoration of rights of children and adolescents.

In this regard urged the new municipal administrations to guarantee stability, independence, retention and performance subject only to law enforcement, family commissioners who were working from the previous administration, bearing in mind that the decision to keep on office should be given based solely on technical, human skills, cognitive skills, experience and high skills, which should hold all holders of this office to ensure and restore the rights of the family.

Ordóñez Attorney reiterated to the district councils and the obligation to create, compose and organize family stations according to the density of population and service needs, and recalled that through the Special Prosecutor for the Defense of Rights for Children, Youth and Family will monitor compliance with the provisions of the directive.
