The Attorney General's Office appealed the court ruling handed down by the Board of Knowledge for Justice and Peace, in the process underway in against Edgar Ignacio Fierro Florez, alias 'Don Antonio', in his capacity as commander of the so-called front 'José Pablo Díaz' block north of the Defence Forces of Colombia.

The prosecution held that the Bogota Chamber of the Court did not rule on the context of collective damage diagnosis in the department of Atlantic and Sitionuevo municipality (Magdalena), concerning the particular practices of the front 'José Pablo Díaz' of AUC, which served as commander sentenced Edgar Fierro Flórez.

Similarly, the Special Prosecutor for the prosecution in criminal matters aims to identify the collective damage requires an analysis of context and not just legal interpretation of the acts of violence, as if it were common crimes, explaining that understanding and identification of collective damage is required to establish causal links considering the entire context of the armed actions affecting specific populations, so that harm is understood in the analysis of connection between the social, economic and historical in the ensuing human rights violations and breaches of international humanitarian law, in addition to the effects these have on community life.

The Public Ministry's action clarifies that "although the statement shows a deep interest in addressing the collective dimension of the right to truth, we note that this is not proportional to the momentum 'reconstructive' expected that citizens can find a judicial release about the intentions and reasons for the occurrence of crimes and human rights violations.
