Attorney forward actions to children rights of indigenous communities are not violated

On the occasion of the discovery of five bodies of children in the indigenous reserve of Caño Owl in Hato Corozal, Casanare, the Attorney General's Office, Alejandro Ordóñez Maldonado, through for the Defense of the Rights of the Child, Youth and Family, requested the director of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute, the governor of the department and the mayor of the municipality of Hato Corozal, in order to report on the protection and support programs that have run in rights of the indigenous population, with emphasis on early childhood and its strengthening.

It has been known that the deaths of indigenous children could be produced by malnutrition. The prosecution emphasizes that must be prevented that such events are still present in the country, and remember that children and adolescents of indigenous peoples and other ethnic groups, without prejudice to the principles that govern their cultures and social organization, enjoy the rights enshrined in the Constitution and in international human rights instruments, as provided in Article 13 of the Code for Children and Adolescents.
