Attorney opens preliminary inquiry in the case of the boat on fire on the island of San Andres

The Attorney General's Office opened a preliminary inquiry against officials for determining the Specific Command of San Andres and Providencia, the Captain of Ports and whether these two populations is the case in other institutions provided it is warranted during the investigation of facts, for alleged dereliction of their duties in the specific case of the loss suffered by the boat "Miss Elizabeth" on 5 January, in which one person was killed, three people were missing, and there were three shipwrecked survivors.

In the order handed down by the Regional Attorney of San Andres is ordered that documentary and testimonial evidence in order to clarify the responsibility of the maritime authorities of the island.

Some of the tests performed correspond to the valuation of technical records that lie in the states of maritime surveillance and control of the islands, review of permits issued by the Captain of the Port of San Andrés, show the departure times of the ship at sea, receiving the emergency calls to the Port Captain and the Unified Command and their reaction protocols, in addition to consulting with airlines and Satena Searca if any flight crew made ​​between San Andres and Providencia reported who observed the incident and they did.

Among the complainants of the alleged irregularities include the Ombudsman's Office and the Association of Artisanal Fishermen and Farmers San Andres and Providencia.
