In lower court ruling, the Attorney General's Office sanctioned by a fine equivalent to one month's salary to the former mayor District Buenaventura, Jose Felix Ocoro Minotta, who did not forward the eviction of those who hold illegal mining exploitation in the river Dagua .

The Public Ministry imposed the same disciplinary Mr. Henry Moreno Mosquera, in his capacity as Secretary of Public Safety District Buenaventura City Hall.

The exmandatario did not follow the eviction process was advancing through the Secretary of Public Safety of persons engaged in mining in the river Dagua, Community Council of Upper and Middle Dagua, District of Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca) and who illegally exploit gold in the river Dagua Zaragoza sector, including activities barequeo, dredgers and backhoes.

Attorney notes that the president violated his omission as provided in a resolution issued by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Cauca Valley and the decisions rendered by his office in which he was ordered to the Mayor, through the Secretary of Public Safety , perform the above process of eviction.

The Attorney General concluded that the district administration had exmandatario by the administrative acts issued which ordered, inter alia, the said eviction, but these did not materialize and therefore allowed to conduct an operation of large scale mining that led to environmental damage.

Moreover, the monitoring body established that Mr. Henry Moreno did not specify the procedures necessary to carry out the eviction of those who exercise the illegal exploitation noted above.

The Provincial Office of Buenaventura forwarded a copy of the disciplinary decision to the Valley Regional Office to investigate the conduct of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Cauca Valley, as it apparently would not have addressed the situation promptly.
